Customs and Tariffs

  • What are Customs and Tariffs?Customs is an authority or agency in a country responsible for controlling the flow of goods and personal effects in and out of the country as well as collecting customs duties or tariffs. Customs duties vary by country, product and quantity, with duties often dependent on the value of the imported goods. Some goods are exempt from duty under various trade agreements. Customs rules, however, differ from other import restrictions, which may vary by country of import as well as country of origin.
  • What are Import Customs Tariffs in your country? When GlosTRANSPOT-BENIN ships you your order on your behalf, you as the recipient of the goods are considered to be an importer and it is your responsibility to pay any customs duties that you might be liable for on your end.
  • What Export Customs Tariffs in BENIN?For most goods in reasonable quantities and most countries of destination, there are no exporter customs duties collected in BENIN. However, if your particular situation requires any customs duties to be paid in BENIN, you as a recipient of the goods are responsible for any customs duties that you might be liable for in BENIN.

Sales Tax

  • What is a sales tax and when is it collected?Sales tax is collected by the state and, in some cases, by local municipalities (local surcharge) on goods sold in that state. For example, if you buy something in Cotonou, the state collects 7.25% of the cost of goods sold. Plus, local surcharge can be between 0 and 1.5%. Therefore, the total sales tax can be between 7.25% and 8.75%.

Fortunately, the sales tax is collected only by those Internet stores that are located in the same state as buyers. In cases when the seller of goods is located outside of  Cotonou, and ships the goods to the buyer's address in Cotonou, the sales tax is not collected. This is the beauty of Internet shopping: one can always find an Internet store outside Benin and thus, avoid paying the sales tax.

Warranties

  • What is my warranty? All American online stores, auctions and conventional stores have elaborate and liberal guaranties and return policies in regards to the purchased goods in order to protect you as consumer. These guaranties and return policies vary by store and product.

When Glos ships you your order, we pass on to you ALL customer protection benefits that you are entitled to in regards to your purchase at a particular store. Moreover, in a rare case of a problem situation requiring an intervention in order to return or replace your order, or send any missing parts, we will act on your behalf as your agent to resolve any issue to your full and complete satisfaction.

We will not charge you extra money for our time spent on resolving the issues; however, you might be responsible for shipping charges if they are required.
